A logistics deal near Gateway Airport heads to council

Mesa is set to sign off on a foreign trade zone agreement for a logistics operator at three sites just southwest of Eastmark, near Mesa Gateway Airport.

Key facts:

  • What: a Foreign Trade Zone operator agreement (a federal designation that lets companies defer or skip customs duties on imported goods until they ship out) with Arrow Global Supply Chain Services.
  • Where: 7449 and 7453 East Pecos Road, plus 7250 South Sossaman Road, near the airport.
  • District: Mesa District 6, which covers Eastmark.
  • Vote: Mesa City Council, July 20.

The sites sit inside the Gateway employment zone, the same airport-and-data-center corridor on Eastmark's south and east edges that has pulled jobs, industrial buildings, and perimeter traffic toward the neighborhood for years. A trade-zone designation is a routine tool for the distribution operators that move imported goods through a hub like this one.

What to watch: the council vote on July 20. The agreement is here.
