Two east Mesa projects before the city this week

Two development items on Mesa's east side land on city review-board agendas this week: a hotel near Recker and Longbow, and changes to the Faith Christian School site on Power Road.

Key facts:

  • 🏨 Longbow Mixed-Use. A hotel plus future commercial on 3.3 acres, about 1,700 feet west of Recker and Longbow Parkway. Goes to the Design Review Board Tuesday, June 9. Staff recommends approval with conditions. District 5. Details.
  • 🏫 Faith Christian School. A council use permit on 9.9 acres at 3761 S Power Road, amending several conditions on the school's existing approval. Goes to the Planning and Zoning Board public hearing Wednesday, June 10. Staff recommends approval with conditions. District 6, the council district that covers the Gateway corridor. Details.

Both are at the recommendation stage, not the finish line. The Design Review Board and the Planning and Zoning Board make recommendations; the full council vote comes later. Neither project sits inside Eastmark proper, but both fall in the east-side districts, and the school is the closer of the two.

What to watch: each heads to the full council for a final vote in the weeks ahead. Agendas and staff reports post on Mesa's Legistar portal.
