Eastmark turns 13
The community hits 13 on Monday, June 1, with the official Summer Programming Kickoff at The 'Mark.

The first seven model homes opened on June 1, 2013, on the old GM Desert Proving Grounds. Thirteen years later, residential build-out is complete (the last new home sold last year), and the next chapter is commercial: EastMarket at Ellsworth and Ray is under construction with Sprouts targeting a Q4 2026 opening, and Liv at Eastmark (208 apartments at the same intersection) recently cleared approvals.

Six new Power Road business licenses are queued for Mesa Council on June 8. All sit in District 6, the council district that covers the Eastmark side of the city. Five of the six are within a short drive of Ellsworth.

🚧 $1M drainage fix on Baseline east of Signal Butte. Council reviews an amended intergovernmental agreement with the Maricopa County Flood Control District on Monday, June 1, covering drainage work on Baseline between Signal Butte and Meridian. Total estimated cost: $1,040,901, with up to $500,000 (about 75%) reimbursed by the county's Small Project Assistance Program. The amendment extends the project completion date and updates cost estimates. Resolution.
🏭 Chemical manufacturing tenant at 6560 S. Mountain Rd. Council reviews a Foreign Trade Zone Operator Agreement with MGC Pure Chemical America on June 8, activating FTZ 221 (the same trade-zone footprint Apple is using on Signal Butte) for a chemical manufacturing facility. Resolution.
