Ellsworth is set to become a continuous 45
Ellsworth Road, Eastmark's western boundary and the road most drivers use to reach the neighborhood, is set to become a continuous 45 mph street under a Mesa ordinance headed to council next month.
Key facts:
- What: An ordinance dropping the Ellsworth stretch between Elliot Road and the south city limits from 50 mph to 45 mph, making the whole road one speed end to end across Mesa.
- Why: Recommended by Mesa's Transportation Advisory Board.
- Where: District 6, the council district that covers Eastmark.
- When: On the City Council agenda for Aug 17.
Ellsworth keeps getting busier. EastMarket, the Sprouts-anchored center at Ellsworth and Ray, opens in Q4 2026, and the data-center corridor along the northern edge keeps adding traffic. A single 45 mph limit replaces the current setup, where the segment south of Elliot still runs 50.
The council vote is set for Aug 17. If it passes, new signs follow. Details.

🍜 A new sit-down restaurant is coming to Ellsworth. Tastea Pho Banh Mi Café is set for 3442 S. Ellsworth Rd, Suites 101 and 102. Lunch and dinner, with no prior restaurant at the space. Its license cleared council review in June. Details.
🏠 The housing market cooled slightly. Mesa's median sale price was $452,500 in May, down 1% from a year ago, with homes taking about 55 days to sell. Details.
🏗️ Mesa is chasing more foreign industrial investment. The city is working to attract additional overseas manufacturers, the Mesa Tribune reports. It matters here because Eastmark's northern and eastern edges sit against Mesa's data-center corridor, home to Apple, Meta, and Google. Details.
