The library quietly won a national award
Mesa's Gateway Library, the branch that opened in Eastmark two years ago, just won an international design award.
- The award: a 2026 Library Interior Design Award, given jointly by the International Interior Design Association and the American Library Association.
- What it recognizes: excellence in library interior design, judged in national competition.
- The branch: Mesa Public Library's Gateway location, on the west side of Inspirian Parkway just north of Ray, opened in 2024.
Gateway is a Mesa Public branch, not a county library, and it serves the fast-growing southeast edge of the city. It sits right next to the Great Park lot where the Saturday farmers market sets up, so most of the neighborhood already passes the building most weekends.

- 🌯 A new sit-down restaurant is coming to Ellsworth. Zeitouna is set for 3515 S. Ellsworth Road, Suite 101, with lunch and dinner. Its restaurant license went before Mesa City Council last month.
- 🏪 A new Circle K is in the works on Elliot. The convenience store at 10744 E. Elliot Road had its liquor-store license go to council last month.
- 🏀 AZ Athletic Grounds hosts a big youth basketball tournament Friday. The Section 7 boys event runs at the Ellsworth and SR-24 complex. Details.
